Harney Peak

               Harney Peak is the highest mountain in South Dakota and is located in the Black Elk Wilderness area, in southern Pennington County, in Black Hills National Forest. At 7,242 feet (2,207 m), it is also the highest summit in the United States east of the Rocky Mountains and the highest point in the Black Hills. 
                The summit can be reached from Sylvan Lake, Camp Remington, Highway 244, Palmer Creek Rd., Mount Rushmore, or Horse Thief Lake. An old stone tower, once used as a fire lookout tower, is located at the summit.  Harney Peak is the site of the Sioux Native American Black Elk's "Great Vision" which he received when nine years old and the site to which he returned as an old man, accompanied by writer John Neihardt, who popularized the medicine man in his book Black Elk Speaks.

Mount Robson

                Mount Robson is the most prominent mountain in North America's Rocky Mountain range; it is also the highest point in the Canadian Rockies. The mountain is located entirely within Mount Robson Provincial Park of British Columbia, and is part of the Rainbow Range. It is commonly thought to be the highest point in B.C., but that distinction is held by Mount Fairweather at 4,663 m (15,299 ft). Mount Robson is the second highest peak entirely in British Columbia, behind Mount Waddington.
               The south face of Mount Robson is clearly visible from the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16). The south face can be seen from the Berg Lake, accessible after a hike of 17.5 miles.

Elbert mountain

             Mount Elbert is the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains of North America, at 14,440 feet (4,401 m), the highest of the fourteeners in Colorado, and the high point of the Sawatch Range. It is located in Lake County, approximately 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Leadville. It lies within the San Isabel National Forest. The mountain is largely quartzite. However, the summit ridge consists of metamorphic basement rock, which is Pre-Cambrian in origin and about 1.7 billion years old.
            There are three main routes up the mountain, all of which gain over 4,100 feet (1,200 m) of elevation. The standard route ascends the peak from the east, starting from the Colorado Trail.  The most challenging is to take the Black Cloud Trail, with which it takes 10 to 14 hours to reach the summit. Near Mount Elbert there are two other peaks with elevations over 4,000 meters to the north Mount Massive (4,396 m) and to the south the La Plata Peak (4,377 m).
