Rome

                     Rome (Roma) is the capital of Italy and the capital of Lazio (Latin: Latium). With 2.8 million residents in 1,285.3 km2 (496.3 sq mi), it is also the country's largest and most populated comune and fourth-most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. Between 3.2 and 3.8 million people live in the Rome urban and metropolitan area. Rome's history spans more than two and a half thousand years, since its founding in 753 BC, with the union of rural villages. It was the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. 
                    The landmarks of ancient Rome are: the Colosseum (Colosseo, Anfiteatro Flavio), the Roman Forum (Foro Romano, Forum Romanum), the Domus Aurea, the Pantheon, Trajan's Column (Colonna Traiana), Trajan's Market (Mercati di Traiano), the Catacombs (Catacombe di Roma), the Circus Maximus (Circo Massimo), the Baths of Caracalla (Terme di Caracalla), Castel Sant'Angelo (Mausoleum of Hadrian), the Mausoleum of Augustus (Mausoleo di Augusto), the Ara Pacis (Altar of Augustan Peace), the Arch of Constantine (Arco di Costantino), the Pyramid of Cestius (Piramide di Caio Cestio), and the Bocca della Verità (the Mouth of Truth).
                    The landmarks of medieval Rome are Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore (Basilica Sanctae Mariae Maioris), The Basilica of Our Lady in Trastevere (Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastevere), Santi Quattro Coronati, The Basilica of Saint Praxedes (Basilica di Santa Prassede all’Esquillino), Torre delle Milizie, Torre dei Conti, The Basilica of St. Mary of the Altar of Heaven ( Basilica di Santa Maria in Ara coeli al Campidoglio), Palazzo Venezia, Palazzo Farnese, Palazzo Barberini, Palazzo Chigi, Palazzo Spada, Palazzo della Cancelleria, Villa Farnesina, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Farnese, Piazza della Rotonda, Piazza della Minerva, Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain), Palazzo Montecitorio. 
                    The main objects of the modent Rome are: Piazza del Popolo, Altare della Patria (The Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II), Grave of the Unknown Soldier, Palazzo della Farnesina, Villa Borghese gardens, Pineto Regional Park, Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II, Ponte Sant'Angelo, La Sapienza University.
