It represents the peak of the former volcano that forms the peninsula of Tahiti Nui ("big Tahiti"), the western part of the twin island of Tahiti. Mont Orohena reaches a height of 2241 m (7,352 ft) above sea level. Administratively belongs to the mountain community Mahina.
