Ljubljana

             Ljubljana (italian Lubiana, german Laibach) is the capital of Slovenia and its only centre of international importance. It is located in the centre of the country in the Ljubljana Basin, and is the centre of the City Municipality of Ljubljana (Mestna občina Ljubljana). With approximately 272,000 inhabitants, it classifies as the only Slovenian large town. For centuries, Ljubljana was the capital of the historical region of Carniola.
            The main objectives of the city are The Ljubljana Castle (Ljubljanski grad), Ljubljana Town Hall (Ljubljanski rotovž), The Franciscan Church of the Annunciation (Frančiškanska cerkev), Prešeren Square ( Prešernov trg), The Urbanc House, The Slovenian Philharmonic on Congress Square, Kazina, Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church (Cerkev svetega Cirila in Metoda), Nebotičnik, Tivoli Park, Čop Street (Čopova ulica), Triple Bridge (Tromostovje),  the Museum of Modern Art (Moderna galerija), Cankar Hall ( Cankarjev dom), the  Opera and Ballet Theatre (Ljubljanska operna hiša), The Slovenian National Theatre, Šiška Cultural Quarter and National Assembly Building.
