Auckland lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges and smaller ranges to the west and north-west. The central part of the urban area occupies a narrow isthmus between the Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea and the Waitemata Harbour on the Pacific Ocean.
The main sights are: Auckland Civic Theatre, Harbour Bridge, Auckland Town Hall, Auckland War Memorial Museum, Aotea Square, St Patrick's Cathedral, Britomart Transport Centre, Eden Park, Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium, Museum of Transport and Technology, New Zealand National Maritime Museum, Queen Street, Sky Tower, Viaduct Basin, Auckland Domain, Mount Eden, Rangitoto Island, Waiheke Island, University of Auckland, Albert Park, Dilworth Building, Waitakere Ranges.
