Cichlid fish

             Cichlids are fish from the family Cichlidae in the order Perciformes. Cichlids are members of a group known as the Labroidei along with the wrasses (Labridae), damselfish (Pomacentridae), and surfperches (Embiotocidae). This family is both large and diverse. At least 1,650 species have been scientifically described, making it one of the largest vertebrate families. Cichlids are among the most popular freshwater fish kept in the home aquarium.        
              The most known species are: The oscar (Astronotus ocellatus), The butterfly peacock bass (Cichla ocellaris), The Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), The angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) , Livingston's cichlid (Nimbochromis livingstonii), The Texas cichlid (Herichthys cyanoguttatus), Dwarf cichlid (Nannacara adoketa), The red terror cichlid (Cichlasoma), The discus (Symphysodon), Cyphotilapia frontosa, Haplochromis latifasciatus, The bumblebee cichlid (Pseudotropheus crabro), Tilapia mariae, Common freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), the blue Cichlid, the twin spot flag cichlid.
