Mérida

                Mérida is the capital of the Mexican State of Yucatán and largest city of the Yucatán Peninsula. It is located in the northwest part of the state, about 35 km (22 mi) from the Gulf of Mexico coast. The city is also the municipal seat of the Municipality of Mérida, which includes the city and the areas around it. According to the 2010 census, the population of Mérida was 970,377, ranking 12th among the most populous Mexican metropolitan areas.              
               The main sights of Mérida are: Cathedral of Merida (Catedral de San Ildefonso), America Park, San Felipe de Jesus- Catholic seminary, Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, Yucatan state capital building, Monumento à la Patria, Palacio de Gobierno, Barrio y Capilla de Santa Lucía, House of Montejo, Merida Museum of Anthropology, Gran Museo del Mundo Maya (Yucatán's Mayan Museum), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Ateneo de Yucatán, Museo de la Canción Yucateca in Mejorada, Museo de Historia Natural, Teatro José Peón Contreras, Teatro Daniel Ayala Pérez, Mansiones en Paseo de Montejo, Monumento a los Montejo, Padre e Hijo, fundadores de la Ciudad de Mérida.
