London

               London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, the largest metropolitan area in the United Kingdom, and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures. Located on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londinium.          
              In March 2011, London had an official population of 8,174,100, making it the most populous municipality in the European Union, and accounting for 12.5% of the UK population.       
              The main landmarks are Tower Bridge, London Eye, Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey, City Hall, Primrose Hill, 30 St Mary Axe, Buckingham Palace, National Gallery, Hampton Court Palace, Royal Exchange, St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar square, Shard London Bridge, Natural History Museum, Madame Tussauds, University College London, Tower of London, Barbican Estate, Wellington Arch, Kensington Gardens, Southwark Cathedral (The Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St Saviour and St Mary Overie), London Central Mosque, Crystal Palace transmitting station.
