Chimpanzee

Chimpanzee sometimes colloquially chimp, is the common name for the two extant hominid species of apes in the genus Pan. These species are: Common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) and Bonobo (Pan paniscus). Chimpanzees are members of the Hominidae family, along with gorillas, humans, and orangutans. Chimpanzees split from the human branch of the family about four to six million years ago. The two chimpanzee species are the closest living relatives to humans, all being members of the Hominini tribe.
Chimpanzees make tools and use them to acquire foods and for social displays. They are status conscious, manipulative and capable of deception; they can learn to use symbols and understand aspects of human language including some relational syntax, concepts of number and numerical sequence.
